There aren't necessarily kings and queens in title where I'm from, though the functionality is similar. I suppose in terms of personal protection, there are personal bodyguards. Then there are various services and agencies.

Let's use this world as an example. It's close enough in some ways. The New Amsterdam Police are the ones responsible for protecting the city. Within the police, you have different levels of rank reporting up to a higher authority. At the top is a police chief who reports to the mayor of the city.

On a global level, the UNA is the military force in charge of protecting everything on a global level. In my world, each country has its own army. Here, it's all unified as one.

It is an elected position. A vote is put to the people. Most elected positions also have a limited duration where the individual can serve.

I'm not sure if there are any monarchies in this world. The title may be more symbolic or one of prestige than true power.

Yes. Rather, there is always a state of conflict occurring.

Sorry, I get wordy at times.

Yes. A few centuries behind, but there are some similarities.

No offense taken at all. I can try to be more concise if it would help. But I know what it's like trying to learn a lot all at once so I'm happy to help.

I suppose the changes are fairly significant. How are you handling the technology so far?

Do I live in a world where electricity and running water are broadly accessible to those with means? Yes.

Have I personally lived in situations where electricity and running water was not readily accessible to me? Yes. I spent some time of my life living on the streets and survived off whatever I could obtain or what kindness people showed me.

[It's a twisting of a truth, one she's given in partial to someone else. But even though life in the compound meant she was sheltered, what little she was given depended on what her trainers and handlers allowed. All things come with a price.

Homelessness came with its own challenges and prices, but she had her own sliver of freedom. That made all the difference.]
